9/11/2001 Hard Forgetting and Hard Remembering

http://www.newsday.com/Today is going to be a day of tears, of memorials, of anger, of fear, of depression, of hope and I could go on and on, but one thing that all of these words have in common is that they will be because of LOSS.  It may have been your loved one, it may have been your friends, it may have been your colleagues, or it may not have been any one you knew, but it was a loss for a whole nation.

September 11, 2001, a date that will be stamped in history forever.  I know there has been substantial loss in our world, but even my 10-year-old knows what happened on 9/11/2001 and he was almost 4-months old when it happened.  He probably couldn’t tell you any other significant dates in history, but he knows about 9/11/2001.

Even though on May 2, 2011, our U.S. Troops and President Barack Obama was hailed and newspapers that included Fox News reported Bin Laden Killed by CIA-Led SEALs Team, Death Hailed as Blow to Al Qaeda it still does not and WILL NOT overshadow the headline reported by Newsday (The Long Island and New York City News Source), “Acts of Mass Murder”.  Which makes it very hard for closure.

I don’t know how to feel today, it’s almost as if I want all of my family at home for the rest of the day.  I know I would let the terrorist win by doing that so I’m trying to figure out a way to not think about it which is going to be very hard to do.  The television is going to be covered with memorials, videos, specials, etc.  So I have to find another way to pass time. It just breaks my heart to see how people who actually lost loved ones in this catastrophe and even though I didn’t know anyone in this tragedy, I still feel that it was a loss.  This is a loss that affected an entire country and other countries as well. The Huntsville Times couldn’t have said it better, “Remembering is the hardest part”.

I’m sending prayers to everyone that was affected in this devastating and life changing event!  Everyone has their own way of dealing with tragedy, but hopefully I’ll deal with it today, by appreciating life and the good health of myself and my family.

I’m SMarchel and Blog on it!  It’s My Opinion!
